Why choose specialist neurological physiotherapist over musculoskeletal physiotherapist?
Specialist neurological physiotherapists have completed post graduate training that enables more effective and skilled interventions with their patients. Neurological Physiotherapists will often use musculoskeletal techniques as well as their specialist facilitation techniques to provide the patient with the experience of improved movement, posture, balance and control – helping them to function more successfully. Specialist Neurological Physiotherapy enables your recovery from a neurological illness by recruiting new brain pathways, encouraging the brain and spinal cord to make new connections for functional recovery; a process called ‘neuroplasticity’. Musculo-skeletal or sports physiotherapists are highly specialist in assessing and treating patients with muscular and joint problems but are not specialist in neurological conditions.
How much does each session cost?
Please contact Neuro Rehab NI directly to discuss this. Costs are dependent on where you live as the clinicians will travel from Belfast area. Costs also depend on whether you require a single assessement ( e.g. for advice to carers/family members) or a block of intensive treatment. The length of time you can tolerate during a treatment session varies greatly depending on; your neurological condition, your stage of disease and the goal you are working on. Do I need a referral from my GP or consultant?
No we do not require a referral. Either yourself or a family member can contact us to arrange an appointment.
Cancellation Fees?
We appreciate that appointments may need to be cancelled at short notice and in order to keep the service as efficient as possible we ask that you give us as much notice as possible. If there are multiple late cancellations of appointments we may charge you a cancellation fee equivalent to the cost of the session.
Do you provide invoices for health insurers?
Neuro Rehab NI does not invoice health insurers directly. You will be provided with a receipt on payment should you wish to claim back from a health insurer.
